NAME: Andrés Carmona Silva, Camarón de Pitita

FAMILY: Nephew of the unforgettable Camarón de la Isla, son of Antonio el Rubio, flamenco singer with an authentic stile.

CAREER: Camarón de Pitita started his career at the age of 5, presenting during the show Un Mundo, for two years in TVE. At the age of 9 he played in Linea de la Concepción Festival with the collaboration of Fosforito and Camarón de la Isla. He worked in two of the most prestigious tablaos in the seventies Café Chinitas and Los Canasteros, becoming popular among the most distinguished artists.

During his career he has accompanied Fosforito, José Mercé, La Susi, Manzanita, José de la Tomasa, El Cigala, Guadiana, La Macanita, Pan Sequito, Juan Valderrama and Miguel Poveda, among others in their tours. As well as the dancers Manolete, Juan Andrés Maya, Manuela Carrasco, Canales, La Tati, Juan Ramírez, José Maya…

At the age of 20 he collaborates in his first musical play, Andalusia, with Cristina Heeren and Juan Andrés Maya, flamenco dancer with whom he has collaborated in the musical direction of some of his plays. He has also acted as a principal figure along with Fosforito and La Susi.

He composed the music for the coreography with which Rocío Molina got the first award in the Abéniz Theatre. He collaborated with her several times leading the musical direction of her plays.

He worked for five years with Rafael Amargo and he collaborated in the Merida Theatre with Ángela Molina.

He has collaborated with Salomé Pavón (granddaughter of Manolo Caracol and the Pavones family). He has been first guitar in the play Troya in which Rafael Amargo participated and Ángela Molina was a collaborator. He has also done collaborations with: Guadiana, José Antonio Ramos, Miguel Poveda, Marina Heredia, La Macanita.

Nowadays, he works in Antonio Gales’s company and he prepares his first record as a solo artist. He is also working in important national tablaos such as Casa Patas in Madrid and Tablao Cordobes in Barcelona.
